Please use your vote wisely for the upcoming election! Get to know your candidates by watching them on television or read about them in the paper. Better yet take the time to go to any local meetings where they may be speaking and meet them face to face. Ask them questions and listen to their answers! This is so important. Maui is a small place and it is not hard to get to know people here.

You can go anywhere on Maui and bring up the subject of Maui government and you will see how unhappy everyone is with the present situation. When I here people complain I usually ask them if they vote. Most reply "NO!" This amazes me! If you do not vote do not complain. Your vote could make the difference.

Elected officials should be held accountable if they do not live up to their campaign promises. This is for sure, one of the major issues in corrupt government. Once they are in they do whatever they want or are pressured or bribed to do. They quickly forget what they told their loyal citizens. If they do not do what they promise us they should be removed from their position. They can and should be impeached. If it cannot be done sooner it should be done for sure at the next election. Yet here on Maui these deceptive officials are elected over and over by the same voters. Even after they continue to do the opposite of what their voters wanted. What is the problem here! It is time for a change!
