Welcome to Maui?

We all know what it is like to sit in traffic for 3 or 4 hours on an otherwise beautiful day or evening on Maui. Think what it is like for visitors who have just arrived after a long flight and just want to get to their Hotel or how about the visitors who are trying to catch their plane home! Will they want to ever return to Maui? While we sit in the traffic we miss work, our families and think of the gas we burn at $3.70 per gallon. What if a child or even an adult or yourself were critically injured? All roads were closed and you or they could not receive the medical attention that was needed to save your life. This is a very serious problem! |
| When all roads are closed it has a tremendous economical impact on our Island. Hotels and small and large businesses have no employees. Restaurants cannot receive the food they need to feed everyone including those trapped by the roads being closed. Children cannot get to and from schools. Parents cannot get home to be there if the children do get home. There are many things that I wonder if the people sitting trapped in their cars needing water, food, gas and rest rooms even think about in their frustration and anger. |

| Still Maui County Officials continue to let developers build Hotels and housing developments at a very fast pace even though the Community Plans do not support the growth! Why? Why? Why? |

Last but not least an all too familiar picture! This is what is happening at South Maluaka Beach these days. The public parking has been taken over by construction vehicles and the natural beauty surrounding the area is now gone! Why do we let this horror continue? Why are our County officials permittng this kind of growth. Especially when the Real Estate market is such a mess. The next thing that will happen is the builders will file for bankrupcy when they cannot sell the units. |
