How sad it is that Hawaii is known for its poor
quality of Education! If we are going to change things here in
Maui and all of Hawaii, education is the most important tool
we need. The children that are learning today will be tomorrows
leaders. They need to be taught the truth and taught well! One
of the sadest facts is the difference in what a Football Player
makes and a Teacher makes. Football players make millions of
dollars to go out and slam into each other on a field and teachers
make next to nothing to do the most important job, and I might
add the most difficult job in the country. The future of our
County and State and even our Country is in the hands of these
teachers. Most good teachers are leaving Hawaii because they
can not afford to live here on their salary. So what can be done
about this? Something needs to be done fast! Something should
have been done a long time ago! What are our leaders thinking
if they are thinking at all! |
